Manuel Antonio National Park is the most visited natural reserve in Costa Rica and among the most biodiverse places on earth per square kilometer. Howler monkeys move through the canopy at dawn. Three-toed sloths hang motionless above trails that open onto white sand coves framed by volcanic headlands. It is a landscape people travel far to see, and return to because it keeps revealing more.

Maravé sits at the threshold of this ecosystem, where 40 acres of land descend from rainforest ridge to 650 feet of beautiful Pacific beachfront. The property sits close to the national park, creating an immediate relationship with one of Costa Rica's most celebrated natural settings.

The Wildlife

Three species of monkeys, two-toed and three-toed sloths, scarlet macaws, and one of the country's largest populations of Central American squirrel monkeys, classified as endangered.

Maravé occupies 40 acres on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast. The property descends from an elevated rainforest ridge to 650 feet of Pacific beachfront, a short distance from Manuel Antonio National Park. The topography is dramatic, with natural terraces stepping down through mature canopy to the water.

The estate pairs titled ownership with a beautiful beachfront resort setting. Owners move easily between private residences, the beach club, warm Pacific water, and the restaurants, spa, pools, and services of the LXR-branded resort.

The estate is designed to preserve the landscape that gives it value. Over 70% of the mature canopy is retained. Structures follow the natural grade of the hillside rather than leveling it. Stormwater is managed through bioswales and permeable surfaces, allowing the land to remain the author of the experience.

Architecture Shaped by the Land

The architectural language of Maravé draws from the geometry of the coastline and the canopy. Rooflines echo the slope of the ridge. Open floor plans extend onto deep terraces and balconies that function as primary living space for most of the year. Materials are selected for the climate, including Mass Timber, stone marble flooring, and expansive glazing oriented to capture prevailing breezes and frame the Pacific horizon.

The sixty-six freestanding villas each include a private plunge pool on the terrace. The 46 condominiums (one-, two-, and three-bedroom) and 4 penthouses share a rooftop infinity pool exclusive to the condominium tower, alongside generous balconies and deep terraces for outdoor living.

The villas are arranged to maximize privacy and views. No residence looks into another. Setbacks are generous. Arrival sequences move through landscaped garden paths before reaching private entry courts, creating a sense of transition from the common resort experience into the owner's private domain.

Interior design balances refinement with restraint. Muted natural tones, textured surfaces, and handcrafted details reference Costa Rican craft traditions without resorting to pastiche. The environment remains the dominant aesthetic: the canopy through the window, the sound of the Pacific, the quality of the equatorial light.

Their approach goes beyond form, creating structures that respond to context, culture, and time with clarity and precision. Here, architecture follows the rhythm of the site, integrating the built environment with the surrounding rainforest canopy and Pacific coastline.

The interiors are shaped by Curioso, a collective of designers working between Mérida and Chicago who see hospitality as a way of building connection. Their work brings warmth, identity, and human depth to every space. At Maravé, they have curated a material palette of stone marble floors, Mass Timber, and muted tones that lets the environment lead.
